You have been directed to this site because you have submitted a Laptop Registration Form and fee to the Idaho State Bar to take the essay portion of the bar examination on your laptop computer using SofTest. Using SofTest, you will download formatting for your essay examination answers prior to test day and upload your essay answers after the examination using the Internet. You will not need Internet connectivity during your examination. You will need Internet connectivity prior to test day to download answer formatting and immediately following the examination to upload your essay answers.
Please Note: All new and reexamination applicants must submit the February 2014 form and fee in order to receive the necessary information for the SofTest registration process.
SofTest Registration signup period begins November 11, 2013, and ends January 15, 2014, at 4 PM MDT for the February 2014 Idaho Bar Examination. This process must be completed each time you register to take the bar examination, regardless of any ExamSoft registrations that you may have completed previously.
Applicants who have not installed the software, registered and qualified within this timeframe will not be allowed to use a laptop computer for the essay examination. Complete sign-up and registration instructions follow.
Please Note: If you will not be using the registered computer on examination day, contact ExamSoft Client Support by email at BarSupport@examsoft.com or by phone at 866-429-8889. Failure to do so may result in your having to hand write the examination. Also, do not un-install SofTest until after you receive your examination results!
SofTest can be used on virtually any modern computer (i.e. purchased within the last 3-4 years). For specific system requirements, please click on Minimum System Requirements above.
ExamSoft – SofTest is now available for both PC and Mac! We are very pleased to announce that SofTest now has a native version for Windows and Mac laptops, allowing it to run in both types of operating systems (without the use of Bootcamp)! When you go to download SofTest, just click on the appropriate version to download and install!
Apple Macintosh Users: Idaho will allow you to use your Mac as long as you have installed SofTest correctly.

Please Note: This process must be completed each time you register to take the bar examination, regardless of any previous ExamSoft registrations that you may have completed previously.
- Sign Up – Click on the Exam Takers tab below and login using the ID# and password that have been provided to you by the Idaho State Bar.
- Install and Register SofTest - After you have logged in, follow the onscreen instructions to download and register SofTest on the laptop you will use on exam day. Enter your ID# and password into SofTest when prompted to register.
- Download Essay Answer Formatting and Mock Exam – Essay answer formatting and one copy of the Mock Exam will be automatically downloaded to your computer after successfully registering SofTest. Upon completion of the SofTest registration, you will receive email confirmation that the download has occurred along with instructions on how to complete the Mock Exam. If you do not receive a download confirmation in your email, contact ExamSoft Client Support by email at http://support.examsoft.com or by phone at 866-429-8889.
- Certify – Complete and Upload the Mock Exam. Failure to complete the Mock Exam may prevent you from being able to use your computer on exam day. The Mock Exam confirms that your laptop is compatible with SofTest and enables users to familiarize themselves with how to open; write and upload answer files prior to exam day. The Mock Exam must be completed to ensure your computer has been configured properly for use on exam day. You will know that your Mock Exam answer file was returned since a visual “progress status” (blue bar) is displayed as the upload takes place. When the upload is complete, a “success” message is displayed.
What if I have a problem uploading my answers?
