Emergency Help Although we want to hear about your experience with ExamSoft, we ask that you direct urgent questions and support requests to Examsoft through one of the following channels:
Background
The College of Medicine administers Year 1 and Year 2 examinations through the use of a computer based delivery system. The computer based system allows the College to manage the exam question bank, exam formation, exam delivery, and statistical information associated with the exams.
Facilitation To facilitate the exam delivery process, each Medical Student is required to:
Ensure s/he owns a computer that meets the requirements of the delivery system. Examplify can be used on most modern computers (purchased within the last 3-4 years. Minimum technical specifications for the exam software can be found at the top of this page.
Register with exam delivery system, ExamSoft after receiving login/id information from the College. Access to ExamSoft is through this portal. Enter your ExamSoft ExamTaker ID and Password in the box at the upper left and look for the Examplify tab
Download the Examplify software from ExamSoft and install it. Then, become familiar with the software and how it interacts with the computer. Practice exams are available through the Medicine IT unit.
Download the encrypted exam when the College advises it is ready. An email alert from the College will be sent to the students. The exam must be downloaded within the time frame given in the email alert. Downloading the exam as early as possible after the email alert will ensure there is time to problem solve any issues that may arise.
Bring your computer with Examplify to each exam and ensure the computer is ready for seamless use of the exam software. Like any other software program you install on your computer, Examplify creates a directory on your hard drive to store various files. Please do not alter any of these files, since it would result in Examplify not running correctly. In order to ensure security during an exam, Examplify will turn off any other programs running on your device (e.g. you would not be able to look up an answer on the internet) and also record all of the keystrokes (in case there is any question of incorrect scoring or attempts to alter Examplify security). Note: These features operate only during the time you are taking the exam.
This means the student must:
i. Have no programs that automatically open on start-up
ii. Completely shut down any virus detection software prior to exam start
iii. Close all windows and programs prior to starting Examplify
iv. Ensure that the computer is fully charged and the power cords is with the computer to avoid battery failure and the possibility of losing the exam.
Be prepared to switch to taking the exam on an IT computer, or paper if any technical problems arise at the start of the exam. Students cannot delay the start of an exam because of computer problems.
Upload the completed exam to ExamSoft at the end of the exam and ensure the confirmation of upload is received. If problems arise at the end of the exam, seek help within the exam room immediately. If problems persist after an exam, contact Examsoft at the Emergency Help numbers at the top of this page.
Support
ExamSoft and College IT teams will support the students in the use of the software.
IT will provide practice exams at the request of the student. The practice exam will test the computer’s readiness for exam taking
