Exam Taker Information

Chase will be using Examsoft's Examplify to administer electronic exams.

Students use Examsoft at their own risk. If a technical difficulty arises with the software or with the student’s computer before, during, or after the exam the student will be required to complete the unfinished portion of the exam by hand. No additional time will be granted due to any technical errors. The professor will only grade the material he or she receives.

Who is ExamSoft?

ExamSoft Worldwide, Inc. is a software developer specializing in computerized assessment and assessment administration programs.

What is Examplify from ExamSoft?

Examplify is a high stakes assessment program developed and licensed by ExamSoft that enables exam takers to securely take examinations downloaded to their own laptop computers by blocking access to files, programs and the Internet during an exam.

You WILL NOT require Internet connectivity during your exam(s). You WILL require Internet connectivity to download your exam(s) and upload your answers(s).

Examplify Functionality

  • Register Examplify on the computer you intend to use on exam day.
  • Once you have installed and registered Examplify, familiarize yourself with the software by utilizing the built-in Mock Exam. It is recommended that you take the Mock Exam prior to your final exams.

Yes. After registering Examplify, launch the program by double-clicking the Examplify icon on your Desktop.Click the 'Take an Exam' button. On the Examplify Start Window, select the 'Practice Exam' button. This enables you to familiarize yourself with the Examplify exam environment. You may use the Practice Exam as many times as you wish. Note that the Practice Exam cannot be saved, cannot be used until Examplify is registered, but can be printed during the exam.

What Must I do on Exam Day?

  • To download exams users must have the Student ID and password they used to register Examplify.  You would have received this information in the initial Examsoft email. The password can be changed on ExamSoft’s website.
  • Arrive to the exam room at least 30 minutes early, plug your computer into a power outlet, turn on the computer and follow the instructions provided.
  • Do not uninstall Examplify until you receive your exam scores at the end of the academic year.
  • Immediately before Examplify launches the exam, you will be provided a warning screen with a RED STOP SIGN indicating that you should not begin the exam until instructed to do so.  Heed this warning.
  • Exams will not be delayed or suspended due to computer problems.
  • During the exam, use care when highlighting and deleting.
  • Students who do not take the time to become familiar with their laptop computer or with word processing functions, should consider handwriting their exams.  No administrative relief will be granted for incorrect use of the software.
  • If a technical issue is encountered, the best resolution is for the student to reboot their computer, if this does not correct the problem then the student should start handwriting the remainder of the exam immediately.

    The most common issues are:

     1) the student did not timely register to take Examplify or did not follow all procedures to assure that his or her computer is properly configured for Examplify.

    • If this is the issue, the College of Law cannot resolve this issue at exam time. You will need to handwrite your exam.
    • Be sure to review the email that was sent by IT prior to the exam period.

    2) Examplify, your keyboard, or mouse stop responding during the exam.

    ·         In the event this happens during an exam or you encounter an error, follow the instructions listed in the error and/or reboot your computer. The resume code will be written on the board in the exam classroom.

    ·         If rebooting does not correct the problem, you must handwrite the remainder of your exam. The work completed up to that moment is safely stored on your computer’s hard drive and will be retrieved after your exam is over.

Please remember that students use Examplify at their own risk. If a technical difficulty arises with the software or with the student’s computer before, during, or after the exam, the student will be required to complete the unfinished portion of the exam by hand.

While there will not be an IT staff member in the building during the exam period, you may receive help by contacting the IT Help Desk at 859-572-6911. Please be advised that this will take time away from completing your exam and we still recommend you handwrite the remainder of the exam in the event of a software failure during the exam.

  • ANY ATTEMPT TO DISABLE OR TAMPER WITH Examplify’S SECURITY FEATURES IS CONSIDERED A VIOLATION OF THE STUDENT HONOR CODE. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO FAMILIARIZE YOURSELF WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT AND THE Examplify SOFTWARE AND INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED BY EXAMSOFT ON ITS WEBSITE PRIOR TO THE START OF YOUR EXAM. PLEASE ALLOW YOURSELF SUFFICIENT TIME TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH YOUR LAPTOP AND THE APPLICATION. COMMENCEMENT OF THE EXAM WILL NOT BE DELAYED DUE TO A HARDWARE PROBLEM WITH YOUR LAPTOP.
