St. George’s University uses ExamSoft for the administration of all examinations in the School of Medicine, the School of Veterinary Medicine, and select courses in the School of Arts and Sciences.
All students must download and register Examplify on their laptop at the beginning of the semester. The information on this page is geared toward helping students prepare to use Examplify, the software used to take exams in ExamSoft.
To download and register Examplify, click on "Login" under the Exam Takers section at the top left-hand corner of this page. You will be re-directed to the SGU MyCampus home page where you must enter your SGU credentials. Students may also click on this link to ExamSoft Support for instructions on downloading and registering Examplify, as well as tips for using Examplify.

What is ExamSoft and Examplify?
ExamSoft Worldwide, Inc. is a software company specializing in computerized assessment and exam administrative programs.
Examplify is a high stakes assessment program developed and licensed by ExamSoft that enables exam takers to securely take examinations downloaded to their own laptops by blocking access to files, programs and the internet during an exam. ExamSoft’s solution is an internet-based exam delivery option. Using Examplify, you will download your exam(s) prior to or on exam day and upload your answer(s) after the exam via the Internet. You WILL NOT require internet connectivity during your exam(s). You WILL require internet connectivity to download your exam(s) and upload your answer(s).
How reliable is Examplify?
Examplify has a considerable number of safety features to ensure that answers typed into Examplify cannot be lost. They include:
- An AutoSave feature that automatically saves your exam every sixty (60) seconds.
- Multiple encrypted backup copies of the exam answer file are saved.
- The ability to undo up to 50 of the previous actions per essay question window.
Minimum System Requirements
Students must use notebook computers with sufficient resources and sufficiently charged. Please note that while iPads and similar devices can be productive tools, they are not approved for use on exams at St. George's University. A notebook computer or equivalent should meet the minimum specifications. Details of these specifications can be found at the top of this page.
Additionally, students are required to have the following
· 10/100 Ethernet network adapter
· 6’ Ethernet cable
· 802.11a/b/g wireless network adapter
· Universal 110-240V power supply
The screen resolution for Mac devices must be at least 1440 x 900.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I practice using Examplify before my exam?
Yes! Course Directors are encouraged to post mock exams to their courses and allow students to download and take these exams. Examination Services also has a mock/practice exam available for multiple downloads. These mock exams provide students with multiple opportunities to familiarize themselves with the ExamSoft platform, prior to a high stakes exam.
What should I do prior to exam day?
1. Register Examplify on the computer you intend to use on exam day
2. Ensure that your computer:
a. Meets the specifications listed in the Minimum System Requirements section at the top of this page
b. Is virus free, and
c. Is free of disk errors. (E.g. Windows PC users can check by running SCANDISK - Click Start Button --->Programs --->Accessories --->System Tools --->Scandisk or Disk Cleanup)
If you are unsure of whether your laptop meets the minimum system requirements, please contact the IT Department for assistance
3. Once you have installed and registered Examplify, familiarize yourself with the software by taking the mock exam.
4. When you open Examplify’s opening screen, you must enter SGU as your institution ID. You will then be directed to the SGU Carenage login page where you will enter your SGU credentials. Once you login successfully, close the browser and return to the Examplify application.
5. Download the exam when you receive notification of its availability by your course director. If you have problems with downloading the exam, notify your course director.
6. Ensure that your battery is fully charged prior to the exam in the event there is a temporary power outage.
7. If you encounter issues when using Examplify, please submit an IT Support ticket or send an email to TellExaminationServices@sgu.edu if you encounter technical issues during your exam.
What should I do on exam day?
- Double check to ensure that the exam, (all blocks), are downloaded on your laptop.
- Ensure that you have an Internet connection
- Have your power cord available in the event that your laptop batter power is low
How can I get an Exam Loaner Laptop for ExamSoft exams?
If you encounter a technical issue with your laptop, you may be able to access a 24-hour loaner laptop from the Examination Services, OIA. To request a laptop, please visit Examination Services, Founders Library, East wing - top floor.
Student Information
- Arrive to the exam room at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam, plug your computer into a power outlet, turn on the computer and follow the instructions provided
- Do not uninstall Examplify until you receive your exam scores at the end of the academic year
- Follow all instructions provided by the Course Director and Proctors at the exam venue
- Exams will not be delayed or suspended due to computer problems
- During the exam, use care when highlighting and deleting
- Take the time to become familiar with their laptop computer and the exam software. No administrative relief will be granted for incorrect use of the software
Warning !
Any attempt to disable or tamper with Examplify’s security features will be considered a violation of the student honor code. It is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with your equipment and the Examplify software and instructions provided by ExamSoft on its website prior to the start of your exam. Commencement of the exam will not be delayed due to a hardware problem with your laptop.
