Welcome to Examplify for the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine assessments

Examplify is the secure testing application you will use for biweekly assessments.
Before your first exam, ensure your device meets the minimum system requirements above ^.

Download, Install, and Register Examplify

1. First login to Examsoft as an exam taker show the download option.
  • Use your Central Login Credentials (6+2) and complete DUO Authentication. 
  • Watch the “Getting Started with Examplify” video on the home page for an overview of how to download, install, and use Examplify


2. Download and run the installer 
  • Choose the install for your OS type Windows or Mac
  • For Mac users, choose whether or not you have a M-Series processor or Intel.
  • Run the installer. -No special settings need configured.

            Note: If your device is a Mac with the M series processor, you may be prompted to install Rosetta. You must select Install to continue the Examplify installation.

3. Launch Examplify and Register

  • Enter < UCCOM > when prompted for an institution ID.
  • Complete the sign-in process using your 6+2 and Duo (you can close the browser after logging in)
  • Verify your name is shown and spelled correctly in the upper left-hand corner
  • Download the practice exam or report compatibility issues to IT.

Using Examplify

Information on how to use and navigate within Examplify, click on the drop-down arrow on the Home Menu and choose Help.  From there you can find instructions on:

Laptop Preparation and Exam Day Requirements

  • Ensure that Examplify is properly installed and registered with the institutional ID of UCCOM
  • Acrobat Reader is installed and set as the default PDF reader

  • Tryout the practice assessment posted in the Examsoft portal to test your installation and to become familiar with Examplify.
  • Restart your laptop the night before to ensure there are no pending software updates that will install if your laptop has to be restarted during the exam.
  • Download the exam at an hour before the scheduled start time or when notified that it is available (24 hours prior).
  • Disable your antivirus software.  Instructions can be found here.
  • Be in your assigned seat and have Examplify loaded with the exam open at the password prompt 10 minutes prior to the start of the exam.  All other applications should be closed.
  • Submit your exam results before leaving the testing rooms.  You should see a confirmation notice in Examplify and receive an email confirming that that your results have been uploaded to Examsoft.  You should also quit Examplify after you have submitted you results. *PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE THE EXAM AREA WITHOUT UPLOAD CONFIRMATION. If you are unsure, please speak with the Chief proctor for confirmation Before leaving the testing area. IT can also confirm your upload. 

In the event of a computer malfunction during the exam an emergency spare computer will be provided by the IT staff.  

Students with laptops out for repair can sign out a loaner laptop from the Health Sciences Library circulation desk.

Exam Reviews

  • Two types: immediate and delayed
  • Both require the exam and review passwords
  • Can only be accessed once and only on the computer on which the exam was taken
  • The review password is taken down 15 minutes after the scheduled start time. 

FAQs

Q: I don't see my exam download.  What should I do?
A1: First check your wifi / network connection. Reconnect and select the refresh button located in the lower left-hand corner.
A2: Select the HOME menu and select logout. Log back in to Examplify with your current UC username and password, you will get a Duo prompt.
***NOTE - If you are using a loaner laptop, please check that your name is displayed in the upper left-hand corner in Examsoft.

Q: How do I resolve Examplify minimum system requirements issues?
A: For issues system related to operating system, hard drive space, RAM, and screen resolution, click here (ARM error see below)

Q: Examplify won't open any longer.  What should I do?
A: In rare cases the Examplify program can become corrupted and will need to be reinstalled.  You can uninstall normally or perform a "clean uninstall" of Examplify using these steps for Mac OS or Windows systems.

Q: Im receiving a minimum requirements error stating my system is using an incompatible ARM architecture.
A: This is a false positive affecting Mac users. Perform the clean uninstall listed above and reboot. 

Q: I'm receiving a prompt stating Examplify does not have enough permissions on my Mac
A: It is possible to deny Examplify permissions accidentally during the initial install. See the Mac permissions article here.

Q: I've been troubleshooting my installation of Examplify and continue to encounter issues.  Who can I contact?
A: Send an email to UC-AHC_ExamSupport@ucmail.uc.edu with a brief description of the issue, any specific error messages you are receiving, and the operating system platform and version of your laptop.  If you are having issues with your UC password contact the IT@UC helpdesk at 558-4357 or online via the support ticketing at https://uc.edu/ithelp
